Sunroof Tinting

How easy is it to re-tint a tinted sunroof?

Mines currently a dark grey tint and I was looking at it from the window at work the other day thinking how cool it would look having a dark blue tint - then the whole roof would be dark blue....

Is it easy/cheap to do? Has anyone else on here done it??

D.A., if it came tinted from the factory then that tint most likely cannot be removed. Factory tint (in the majority of cases) is done in the glass making process so it's permanent. however you could apply blue tint over the existing tint but the grey may take away from the blue a bit, from the outside view especially. It depends how dark the existing tint is and what shade of grey though. Worth a try. You could do it yourself on the cheap and it would probably look great, it is only a sunroof after all.

I tinted my yaris light on the front side windows, medium on the back and the sunroof. You can tint straight over the tint already on there. make sure you go for a very blue tint as the existing will absorb some of the colour. shouldn't pay more than 30 - 40 quid.

it is tricky to do it urself, especially a sunroof, u may be more than capable in which case its inexpensive, but if u want a pro to do it, its £25-30

Affording it isnt a prob Jay - its really just the fact that I'm not sure if it will have much effect because if the current tint cant be removed then the blue wont be able to come through I dont think..... :(

if the tint is the same as my sunroof, it should shine through. all car windows have some sort of tint on them which is minimal and colours shine through, we'll c ur true colours...

c if u can get a test piece and stick it to the roof with cellotape or somat

very good idea EM, only thing you will have to bring a lather with you to show people , but seriosly i think it will look sweet, it may even give a blue tint to the inside of the car as the light shines through now that wood be nice, blue inside, blue outside. do it

lee i think he is right, all he said was it depended on how dark the tint in the factory glass in the sunroof was, that if it was too dark then the blue tint would have no effect where if it was a light tint then it would better, from my read of his post i though it made sence anyway, just my point of view

It may seem that all glass is tinted Lee but its not really, its just not as clear as looking out an open window! :P

And scoinic wasn't saying that anyway!
