Yaris Gs - Clunky Gears

I have an 80,000 mile Yaris S which suffered the same clunky problem. I had the gear linkages replaced last week by newer ones. This is apparently a common issue, and the newer linkages are better. Mine were replaced under my  Toyota Extended Warranty, although I have heard of it being a recal modification by other people.

My current one isn't so bad, but I find that 1st to 2nd needs a bit of a pause between gears - on mine you can feel when its ready for 2nd.

#2 was terrible for refusing to go into reverse. The gearbox is designed not to go into reverse from any gear other than 1st, so if you stopped in second then you have to put it in neutral, release the clutch, give it a wee wiggle then slot it into reverse - it becomes natural after a little while. Sometimes you might find you have to do it from first too...
