Corolla Tsport Or Celica Tsport

hi iv bin wondering who is the fastest? a corolla or celica tsport? as both have the same engine and gearbox will there b much of a difference in top speed and 0-60?

I drive the celica tsport and work for toyota. Side by side the two cars are even to reaching ( my friend drives a n 04 corolla tsport )third gear then the celica starts to pull away from the corolla due to i presume aerodynamics ? any speeds on the motorway the gap grows .

using a road angel which gives your true speed the celica is around 6 or so miles a hour faster top end ( i won't print the speeds as the are high )

the speedo at a true 100 reads 105 in both

I have read,looking at figures on both of these cars the celica came out on top as 0-60 was i think 7.5 secs and on the corolla was 8.0 secs. And top speed think there was something like 5mph between em. Im also prosuming the celica would be a lot faster through bends also due to it being lower down and not as tall, after all it is a sports car..... :D

Celica should have the edge really, except i have seen plenty of sources that would suggest the corolla is the more aerodynamic body shape.

however as standard there is more ground clearence on the corolla..... which has an effect on the high speed performance as there is a lot of air travelling under the car..... this is not so obvious until you are into third and fourth gear.

The corolla gets slightly more mpg and a slightly lower co2 rating than the celica, which would back up the lower drag theory... although as i say, its slight!

however if the car is sitting on stilts like most corolla do coming from the factory then any advantage in drag the bodyshape gives will be negated by the amount of air travelling under the car.

The celica is going to be the better standard though as its been designed with being a sports car in mind while the corolla is really an economy car. You pay a bit more for its sexy looks though!
