No Immobiliser Key Supplied - Carina E

Hello

I have an N reg Toyota Carina, bought from a Car dealer who did not supply with with the key for disabeling the immobiliser, or the alarm remote key.

Not even knowing that there was an immobiliser/alarm I replace the car Battery, and ofcourse the immobiliser / alarm went off. I can not connect the new Battery as the alarm goes off, and I am told by Toyota that I have to replace the immobiliser which would be very expensive for me.

Can anyone suggest, or point me in the right direction? Would finding someone who owns the same car help me at all, or all keys are different?

Many Thanks

Moshe

The black keys - not the grey key - have the imobilisor transponder in them.

The imobilisor recognises the code put out by either of the black keys, when inserted into the key block. However, the alarm takes over when triggered.

Do you have a seperate alarm fob?

You may be able to get another fob from Toyota, as long as you have the original keys - not sure. Go and have a chat with your local dealer - they are normally helpful.

I have a M 1.6 Carina.

I never use the alarm fob - it's not needed to activate the alarm.

The alarm automatically sets when you lock the drivers door (with the key). This will activate the red LED on the centre console.

If the alarm goes off (accidently) you can easily reset it. Put the key in the ignition then turn it (twice) far enough to illuminate the dash warning lights.

A replacement fob costs about £65 + vat.
