Matt, you're just lucky you've got windows ;)

Chris, that looks really smart. I love the midnight tint on the back, but it would probably make my car look a bit much like a van

Hi, dont want to be a spoilsport but!! If your car is a later model eg. 53 plate like mine, with certain lettering on the window it is already tinted by toyota to limit.

After jan 1st 2005 it is illegal to tint the front windows by any amount and therfore makes the car unraodworthy because it will not pass an mot and therefore invalidates your insurance.I had light smoke tint front and limo black rears.

My wife left her bag on the seat(stupid I know!!) . Along came a chav and smashed the window and nicked it. It was harder because the film was like a second skin.

The police told me that the insurance company wouldnt pay as it had been tinted . I didnt believe him and told him so!!. :censor:

He informed me that unless I removed the tint from the other front window he would have my car removed as it was without insurance and was unroadworthy! Bas*$%d I thought ! :ffs:

So i took off the film and went autoglass who phoned the insurance company. They obviously told them that it was tinted. THEY WOULDNT PAY FOR THE WINDOW OR THE THEFT OF LINDAS BAG!!! :crybaby:

So the moral of the story is DON'T TINT THE FRONT WINDOWS AT ALL!!

So be warned Plod is clamping down big time in wales!!

It must be going through mid-life crisis or didnt get any at the weekend!

I think most people on here, including Chris, already know of this law. It is up to them whether they follow this law or not. It is a risk that they are willing to take.

What is that mark? What will it say on the glass if it has already been tinted to the limt! Im getting mine done Friday, and Im not sure if I have any tinting done!

Anyone that knows what markings on the windows may mean would be very useful! I have some in the glass, but no idea what they are, or where to find out! Help!

very nice chris!!!! are the back ones lighter or darker than my tints??

as for insurance, i called tesco, told them i had a medium tint all over (excluding windscreen of course) and they were fine about it. and besides, my car is an 02 plate, therefore if the law came in january 2005, then as far as anyone is concerned, the tints could have been already on the car when i purchased it, or infact have been on since brand new?

Unless the actual pane of glass is tinted Danny they can still tell you to get them off!

But I feel if you don't drive like a t**t and the police see you driving sensibly then they don't look twice!

Ryan if the actual pane of glass is tinted it *should* carry a mark on it correct? To show it has been factory tinted. Any idea what that logo looks like? Cause Im getting mine done, front as well but the front might already be tinted, thus taking it over the legal threshold.
