Is it ok to use other air filters (i.e. other then Apexi) on a TS that use a 3" bolt on clamp if i get a airflow adapter

Will it decrease performance or damage any component

Cheers.

Andy

Obviously the likes of HKS and Apexi are all pre-setup and custom built, but I guess you could use another type?

Aslong as the airflow sensor is still in the correct place it should be ok, some of the guys on the ozecho site have done similar things with success.

My old HKS in now proudly mounted on the wifes rover! Works a treat.

A couple of people have had the management light come when using a 'wet' or oiled filter.. Just a case of cleaning the MAF sensor though.

Someone correct me if Im wrong -out last night, still worse for wear..

Yea chappers is correct, the likes of filters such as pipercross, which are essentially ‘wet filters” due to their layer of oil coating, will cause issues and most have found bring on the management light!! resulting in having to clean the MAF freequently, try to stick with a dry filter if you can, easier in the long run.

Had my pipercorss on for about 4 months now, and not a problem yet.

It's a wet filter, but as I'm used to them on motorbikes, I can find that you can easily over oil them.

I'm looking to sell it soon though, as I don't really need it, and would prefer to keep the car standard.

Makes a nice noise as well though. :P
