Pwm Vacuum Switching Valve

hello there!

i am a happy owner of a CTS 2004 model. i ve been looking for after market air induction kits. I have finally found a kit that fits corolla with all the parts that are required (not just the air filter). It is the "KnN Typhoon intake system 69-8751".

I noticed on my OEM filter box that there are some small hoses that go in and out. I suppose that these are vacuum hoses. What are they for? AND most important, why does the KnN kit cancels them?

Thanx advance

Christos

you'll probably find there are Two sensors (Black and Blue) out of a total of Seven for the engine, the Two in the airbox are one for incoming air temp (black) and the another is a vacuum sensor (blue). You should not be without these, but you can work with the K&N.

drill a hole in the base of the filter for the Airtemp sensor (black) slightly undersized and squeeze the sensor into it, jobs done.

the vacuum sensor can be attatched anywhere in the engine bay, i just cable tied mine to the outside of the intake pipe for convenience, but it is a little noisy there !

Okay, so along the same lines as this - under normal circumstances, should the PWM switching valve make a loud clicking noise *like a relay going off?? Mine just started doing this and the dealer says it is normal, but I don't believe them.
