What Is My Rusty X Suffix Celica St Worth?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if my very rusty 1981 celica ST has any value? Engine has a rod through the block and bodywork very rusty but it is essenti9ally complete and some spares should be useful to someone. Thanks Gus.

Hi -

Engine is 1588 cc Vin JT1CBTA4 and then nine digits. I'm in Chester.

Car was good mechanically when last on the road but I blew the engine by forgetting to put any oil in it. Structure of car MAY be OK but BIG holes in doors and wing edges. and dented here and there. Bootlid damaged/rusty. It was always externally very rusty when I was driving round in it but I remember the underside was fairly good. Door locks now seized as it has been standing outside about five years. Would require extensive work on virtually all external panels except roof. It looks horrible! Engine in terminal state.

Regards Gus.

That makes it a TA40 then i guess..... Take it it has square headlights... the earlier 40's had the round ones :D

Hi Scot,

Yes it does indeed have the square headlights and the next digit after the TA4 is indeed a zero. So - what do you reckon?

By the sounds of it, the engine is a 2T-B... what carbs has it got? are they two downdraft Asian or Aisan (cant remember the spelling). I dont mean to misslead u, i dont want to buy it, but try the Enthusiasts Club, spares are always welcome. How much would u want to sell it for.... or what else would your plans be for it?
