Cv Snapped Off Again In 12 Months

Can somebody help me out please?

I have a 94'Celica 2.0 (ST202 3S-GE) Import from Japan (had for nearly 3yrs now).

My CV joint has snapped off for the second time in 12 months, inside the wheel just past the nut and split pin.

I've since had a new CV joint fitted along with a new wheel bearing. After a few days driving it's starting to make a grinding/whirring noise from that area.

I took it back to the mechanic and he seems to think that my hub is damaged from the first time my CV joint snapped. The mechanic said when my CV snapped I had a lot of play in that area in between getting it to the garage (approx 8 miles driving).

He's suggested to get a new or second hand hub and that should take care of the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on this please as to replace a CV joint & Wheel bearing twice in 12 months doesn't seem right.

Is it my so-called damaged hub or could it be something else?

1. If it is the hub I need to know if I can order the UK part or do I have to order a Japanese part from an Import parts dealer.

2. Can anyone recommend where I can get this part from or who/where to ask for advice on this matter please?

I would be most grateful if someone could get back to me ASAP, as my car is off the road now and I'm desperately needing to get back behind the wheel.

Thanks,

Ronnie...

I've got a st185 1990 Jap import..

I've had her just over 12 mths now and have gone through 3 n/s/f wheel brgs and a n/s/f outer c/v joint and theres still a grumble from the n/s/f :ffs:

I've an idea that where the d/shaft goes into the diff the brg has worn and as a result the d/shaft moves under braking and puts even more stress on the c/v joint/wheel brgs

Just a theory..But i'm going to change the diff.As it's cheaper than replacing the brg!!!!!!

Just a thought here. Are you guys running lowered suspension? As this will alter the geometry between diff/drive shaft and CV joint thus causing additional forces to act on the hub assembly.

Yeah, ive got a jap import with lowered suspension.

How can I fix this problem?

I don't care what needs doing to fix it, just as long as it doesn't do it again.

Even if it means getting a new driveshaft or taking it to a specialist to get it sorted, I just want my car back to normal before I start to fall out with it and decide to sell it.

I nearly ordered a hub at £80 today from Toyota on the advice from my mechanic.

Someone please tell me how to get my car back to its original racing condition & I don't care if it costs into the hundreds.

Thanks,

Ronnie...
