Hey, dont normally post in here, but ive been looking at th Glanza V, and just wondering if you can give me some kinda specs on them as standard and any specs of yours if you own one. are they quick? whats 0-60 and bhp? and as they are imports, whats insurance like on them? im 23 and pay 700 fully comp for my yaris t-sport (with mods) which is a group 7 insurance group.

cheers!

Danny

they're relatively quick for the power they offer mainly because of power to weight ratio...0-60 is 7.1secs i believe, 135hp for the latest glanza (though sva regulations mean you cant import 1997 + cars, so you'll have to make do with the previous glanza which makes do with 133hp) and people here have gotten quite cheap insurance on them, maybe a £1000 for you

sounds good, whats the main differences between the new and old? and sorry but whats the SVA and hy caaat uimort the new ones?

cheers

i think the only difference was more efficient emissions control in the later glanza, which accounts for the 2hp extra, otherwise thats it. im not too sure but an importer sent me the explanation by email, cant attatch it here it seems

Difference between 96/97 spec and 98/99 spec is basically different bumpers, clear side indicators and different rear lights. Just a facelift really!

Heres a couple of pics:

98/99 (with bumper extensions-factory option):

To give you an idea on insurance, im 21, 0ncb, 3 years driving under my mums name (but as an any driver with policy holders permission type, so not named!) and im getting insurance for £1360 fully comp through highway/performance insurance. Thats with me as policy holder, my dad named, all mods declared, 12k miles a year and parked on driveway. I could have got cheaper through elephant/admiral but that would have been as a 1996 GT Turbo which is a bit dodgy. The policy im getting will be done properly with Glanza V instead.

The amount of mods available is huge with some very cheap stuff!

Hope this helps ya mate

very very nice, an thanks for the help glanza_mk. problem is, i need a car which is 1998 or newer to put my private plate on! is there no way ur gonna get a 98 model of the glanza in the uk?? i really like them, and its something a bit different to other cars on the road!

theres is no cheap way to get it in unless u want to treck to ireland register it there and bring it over or get a single vehicle pass scheme, i reckon these cars will pass as they are 1.3 engines how much emissions can they release?

would cost you if you are determined to get it

Nipponneil on here is planning to sell his 99 spec in august i think. He brought his over after living in japan i do believe. Not long ago it did 10:08 round the Nurburgring and that was with having to stop for 3 bike accidents so pretty quick!!

Might be worth contacting him?

The 98/99 spec glanzas would get in no problems with emissions etc, but its the need of a model report that causes the problem as there isnt one available and they are very expensive to have done!

we should so do a nurburgring meet after september...its my dream to go there and drive round it endlessly :(

A couple of weeks ago on a drunken night out, myself and some colleagues put together the idea of a £1000 nurburgring challenge! (top gear inspired of course!) £1000 to spend on a car and then fastest time round the ring wins!

what did the winner win :P

id so be up for that....'cept that i dont even have £200, yet alone £1000 :(

its the insurance thats the problem :P

All 4E-FTE are 133bhp

The confusion arises because Japan uses metric horsepower, which is slighly different to bhp. 135ps = 133bhp.

Ive heard theres about 30 in the UK. But that seems to be rocketing recently! No idea on 98/99 spec though. There are some that were brought over before the laws changed

You can make a 96 look kind of like a 98/99 quite cheaply! £11 for clear front indicators, about £50 for rear lights and then you could get the front lip for the 96 which still looks good!

I would love mine to look like the silver 98 above! I think the front bumper is £385 (pre-coloured) so maybe in the future!

This one looks nice:

i used to really prefer the 98-99 spec glanza but after u see a few mint examples of the 96 spec, i personally perfer the earlier shape one!!

Uh huh, they are very cheap! Its just for the lenses mind, but a very easy mod to do! And no, they dont come with side repeaters so unless your buying one already registered in the UK then you will need to get these done...
