Lspv On E10 Corolla?

I've got a tricky one...

I've got shock aids as a short-term solution to stop the 'rolla bouncing around with 4 people in it, and on the paperwork it states that it cannot be fit on cars fitted with LSPV, ie the toyota camry.

/snip

Load-Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV)

The LSPV senses the weight distribution of the vehicle and automatically varies the amount of hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes based on the load in the vehicle. This helps to reduce rear-wheel lock-up with either light or heavy loads to maintain stopping control.

/snip

I've seen a similar fitting on the rear of my 'rolla, and was wondering if this is what they mean. Here's a pic I took a moment ago:

Yeah yeah I know it's filthy.... the pic is taken right from the back, I'm referring to the spring in the red circle.

If that's not LSPV, what is it then?

Advice please!

Cheerrrrrs :)

and here's a diagram I found of the part:

Diagram is of the ABS system, but afaik ABS has nothing to do with how heavy or how loaded the car may be, but if/when the wheels lose traction.

Anyone got an idea before I start working on my 'rolla?

Ive seen this sensor only on a estate, 1992, since that i have a 4 door and my friend a 2 door, and none of them have this.

If your car does have this sensor, then there will be a light mounted in the dash for warning. not sure what it looks like tho.

I very much doubt that the cdx has it,

cheers,

Kamran

PS maybe that on ur car is an abs sensor?

Posted the question on a dutch forum as well, and there they suggest it is indeed to do with braking (not ABS though).

Basically what it does is measure the weight of the rear of the car (by means of how low/high the body is in comparison to the rear axle) and adjust the braking balance accordingly.

Pretty clever stuff for a 96 model...

And you're right, it's not on the CDX. Its generally fitted to estates and 4x4's. Manual or online hunting doesn't mention anything about a light on the dash on the 'rolla, so there's the answer.

Cheers for the reply!
