Lcd Screen On Hiace Camper Jap Import

This is a large screen that is pretty much unfunctional on my new camper.

I figured it would maybe need a bit of calibration, but with no instructions, and a lot of japanese symbols, it may be destined for the bin !!

Has anyone ever seen one of these ?

(And did they have any luck working it ?)

Lastly, the vehicle I have is the 4wd 3L hiace (1994) - an Auto model.

It does about 100 kmh, but struggles above this.

It does about 25mgh, as long as the town driving isn't too much.

Is this good ?

Was there a manual model of this, that would get better (significantly) fuel ecconomy ?

Any help with the LCD would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig.

You should be getting over double this from a 3 ltr turbo.

Try changing the fuel filter initially. Wynns do something called 'deisel clean up' (try trade motor factors) which can be added to the new filter at the same time to clean up the injectors...but the engine needs to be hot, so a brisk change is required.........

If this does not sort it I would look at the timing assuming the brakes are not dragging.

Is it full time/permanent 4wd? I would have thought it would be, but if its not (my 2.8 has manual hubs) ensure the front hubs are unlocked otherwise big repair bills will feature as the transmission system will be binding up.

Your fuel consumption is probably 'par for the course', but no doubt it would be better on a run....

Look at e-bay for replacement lcd screens of the same size...or maybe some electronically clever person could use it as a screen for a reversing camera etc....

Sorry Craig, but it's a JHM (Jap home market) Navigation system and there's nothing you can do to make it work here (there will be more of it under the passenger seat or in the passenger footwell). Best replace it with either a double DIN CD/Radio or a single DIN one with a blanking/oddment holder (see other forum's, search for 'double DIN').

If you are going down that route I may be interested in buying it off you to fiddle around with.

Cheers

Kevin

Blimey your pictures almost too big to fit on my screen, I looked into this a while back, if you do a search on TOC for Jap Import sat nav systems there was loads of threads, I do however know of at least one company in the UK that retrofits Jap Import Sat Navs might be worth looking them up, here's a site link.
