Tyres

Hello fellow Yaris/Toyota owners

Is there any thing that will make me tyres black again, I don’t want the paint that the dealers use, maybe something more “long term”.

Something a bit like back to black for the car trim.

Any ideas, prices and places to buy are welcome.

Cheers

There are wuite a few tyre treatments available.. The black to black spray for wheels is quite poor IMHO (although for the first day or two it does look good)..

We have some spray from Halfrauds in the garage and its really good - I cant remember what its called, but you just spray it on, leave it and it makes your tyres shiny and black in no time!

Only problem I find with most of the tyre sprays is that after a while nuless you keep using them constently they make your tyres turn an orangy colour...

Meguiars Tyre Treatment is superb and haven't known anyone use it and get discolouration of the tyre...

I got the Meguiars Gold Class Endurance Tyre Gel.. hven't used it yet, but the rest of the Mcguiars range is spot on.

The sun is out this morning, so i will hopefully get stuck into it today.

The way i used to do it was useing Tyre paint, thinned down with paint thinners for a more natural look, but i think the Mcguiars Gel will be as spot on as the rest.

You rinse off the excess? I've been using it on the Blue but it began to make the alloys really dirty (which I never realised until Yves said so!) so that makes a lot more sense to rinse some of it off, I never had.

Never understood the whole - color the tyres thing, in black again....

After all, they'll be dead in 10,000 miles or so, and the tyres are the last thing I check out on a car.... ;)

WHAT????!!!!!! They should be one of the first things!!! The only thing seperating your car from the road is your tyres!! Also, my last tyres lasted 18,000 miles... since that took 2 years (i do FAR more miles now!) then that's a long time to have dirty tyres!

Cleaning the tyres is a must every month.... if you keep up to it, and scrub off the old crap with a kitchen scourer (only time ever they should be used on a car) then re-apply, then the clean tyres lift the whole car, making it look sooo much cleaner & in showroom condition! Oh, sprays are ok if you clean your car every week and can keep control of the mess they sometimes leave (like me!) buty gels are the best option really... lasts longer and gives a deeper shine.

I know the importance of tyres, having a bike, and relying on only two wheels to get me round, makes me appreciate a good tyre.

Never had a problem with a bike or car's handling due to "dirty tyres."

I never said I didn't wash them. ;) But why bother spraying them?

Do you only spray the sidewall, cause surely if you spray a sticky substance to a tyre, it'll slip worse?

I dunno - I guess you're all obsessed with your "rage cages." :D

Never experience that - not with the stuff I use...... although its terribly greasy and you have to clean your hands like 50 times to get the stuff off!

Sorry mate, i'd had a few bevvys when i answered... thought you meant you didn't check tyres at all! Clean wise it doesn't matter, they just look nice!

It is definatley only the sidewalls that get sprayed, nothing goes near the tread.
