no problem, no offence taken. just get a little tetchy when i feel my place of work being belittled.

some good points about metal thickness and sound proofing in modern cars.

the average panel thickness on a corolla is 0.7mm (reinforcments and structure are thicker obviously) also the level of soundproofing has gone up. so it stands to reason that any UIN (unusual interior noise) is going to stand out more.

as for resting on laurels, other plants yes, burnaston no. there is a big push to get both our vehicals and the plant to the number one spot in europe.

BMW are a prime example of a company that have sliped. in fact in the last JD power survey IIRC german cars were at the bottom of the reliability table. you will always get a bad egg from any manufacturer, its a draw back from mass produced cars. imagin that around 600 vehicals leave the burnaston plant every shift (X2 shifts =around 1200 cars a day)

its no wonder that some ppl find things that they arnt entirley happy with. you can never please all the ppl all the time.

Well made point

Yes I forgot about BMW and ...Mercedes, the JD Power results in America in 2003 of the E300 placed it as the worst 2 year old car you could buy (and thats bearing in mind America nowadays churns out some home grown cheep stuff!).

Going off topic: My compliments to you with regards to the Corolla feature of IT magazine that your car was in.

My only anger was I would have liked to have seen proper/complete pictures of the actual Corollas :ffs:
