Yamaha Beams

Just after buying my first celica st202 its a jap its a 1993 reg but only just as it was regestered on 19th of dec its a superstrut 3sge my question is maybe this is on every engine but i just spoted on the timing belt cover yamaha is printed on it is she a beams engine because when i was looking for my car this did seem to be alot quicker than the rest i drove if anyone could let me know i would be a happy man. Also can you buy a new ariel whip not the motor just the whip??.Thanks Paul

a 1993 will not be Beams .. ALL 3S engines and Yamaha's.

Beams will have a red cam cover and "Beams" written on it ..

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a Beams Engine??? Is it an aftermarket engine company?

Beams is the VVTi added to the 3S-GE block ..

200PS for the Red top, and 210PS for the Black top (found in the Jap sporty spec IS200 - Altezza)

a new mast for the ariel can be bought from toyota and fitted for around £ 40 , or fit it yourself.

oh and you might wanna start saving for new super strut parts as they are £ 500 a side. they fail at around 60 to 70 k . with luck maybe yours have been changed. :o

Yamaha are just one of Toyota's engine builders, not only did they build the 3S-GE engine,in the Celica, but also built the 2.8 Celica-Supra motor :)
