Yaris Performance

Hi there, i have a 1.3 Yaris 04 and i dont really agree with the performance figures quoted by toyota. I went to the garage to get it serviced and it says that the 1.3 has a top speed of 109mph which they seem really pleased about. But the thing is i got a bit carried away once on a nice empty road and got it up to 111mph in 4th gear?? my friend also has a yaris 1.3 and he has managed to do 122mph.

Also i was wondering if the 0-60 was correct as i seem to be able to get about 9sec in mine 9.4 with a passenger??

Ps. it is stock

The numbers they quote are always under-estimated for top speed!

Hmmm... I doubt if Toyota would miss out on a sales pitch by saying their cars were slower than they actually are.

More likely that the speedo is reading over the actual speed. This tends to get worse the faster you go.

I agree....the 1.3 seems to be more powerfull than the Toyota Specs. :bookworm:

..havent tested the top speed yet(only 2 weeks old & done 380 miles, have to wait untill 1000 miles :crybaby:....right foot does get a bit heavy sometimes :D LOL )

the indicated top speed on the yaris speedo will not be the accurate speed that the car is doing, speedos are always slightly out, while ur speedo will read 122 ur probably more likly doing 115

more accurate figures can be attained using gprs such as through the use of a road angel

and as DA said , toyota have estimated it, dont forget each car will vary down to road conditions, wide factors so on and so forth

Nah, that'd never happen! You might want to read the Corolla forums

I do hope that you are not telling us on this forum that you and your friend did those speeds on public roads :(

That is why we have track days (with proper facilities for speed)

It's the speedo that a bit out... iv had 9.5sec with passenger in to 60mph, but i read it to 63mph now, just to be sure and i add in a bit extra for time-keeping error (crappy stopwatch) and i reckon 10sec dead is best stock. But, i have filmed mine do it in 8.9. So the speedo must be out!

Iv had my speedo read 126mph before, so it's definatley wrong... especially since it hadn't redlined yet! Top speed on a good road, no wind, is probably 115mph to be realistic.

But, i still maintain that the 1.3, when driven properly will embaress many an unwary motorist... it's quick for it's engine size and it's flexible too, so it's a great little car to play around in! Love mine!

I dunno, i dont think this will be correct.

I have had my T-Sport hitting the rev limiter at 132mph, it wont go any faster!!!

Gonna wait till i get my 15s back on & try it again. Hopefully after the unichip & re-map it will go a bit quicker :D

1. 9 secs in a 1.3???? no way. down hill maybe. like off the cliff at brid... timing is not an accurate way of dooing it and it has many faults.

2. GPS IS NOT ACCURATE AT GIVING SPEED READ OUTS. ive used my own and my dads recievers (on my same ipaq) and there is a 5mph differncc between them at 60 mph on the car speedo, one read 59 other read 64.

my rant over as i expect this thread to be closed because of idiots driing at stupid speed and bragging about it. its not big and its not clever.

Please, don't drive dangerously on the public highway. Take it to a track, or disused airfield.

There are plenty of track days in the Uk where you can drive as fast as you like, and its not expensive.

Say's it all really

The only place to test your speed acceptably is on a Professional track under the proper conditions and supervision.

Please do not post about speding on a Public road or in a Public area.

This is something TOC takes very seriously and DOES NOT CONDONE in any way.

Thank You.

Thread CLOSED.
