Anyone please tell me how to program a new remote to a 1998 avensis before i set the car on fire :ffs:

1)open drivers door, Insert key into ignition then remove it

2)close all doors...then open any door twice within 40seconds

3)within 40 seconds:

4)Insert key into ignition, then remove it

5)close all doors...then open any door twice

close all doors

6)switch ignition ON and OFF once to program a new remote code whilst retaining the origional codes, or twice to program a new remote code whilst erasing the original codes.

7)Remove Key

8)System should now Lock and Unlock Vehicle, once or twice depending on which mode has been selected

9)Within 25 Seconds:

10)Press and hold key lock button

11)Press unlock button 5 times

12)Release Lock button

13)Press and release lock or unlock button once.

System should now lock or unlock vehicle

Makes my method of re-sequencing a keyfob simple by comparison!

Could be doing something wrong but not working. thanx anyway mate

My remote unlock button did not work, my manual says:

sit in driver seat

1. Open driver side door without the key in the ignition

2. Put key in ignition en turn from off to on, wait 10 sec

3. push lock or unlock button twice, you should hear the sound of the (ub)lock mechanism.

I did this procedure for both the lock and unlock button. Now both buttons function.

Is this a wind up?? I need to programme another keyfob for my 1998 avensis. Anyone know where I can get a key cut that will also work on the alarm?

Also note, a maximum of 4 keys can be programmed!
