20V 4A-GE from a 1996-1998 levin black top will give about 160 hp i think. not 100%. this i think would be easiest changing from a 4a series car.

2.0 litre turbo - 3S-GTE - from MR2 Turbo/Celica GT4 will fit but it's definitely not a bolt in. Fensport have got 650+ BHP from one of these (lots of R&D) but mega bucks to get to that but it just shows what can be done.

1.6 litre 4A-GZE supercharged engine from Japanese Levin GT-Z will almost bolt in but electrics are tricky. I've got 198bhp from mine but that has not been cheap either - but the I do like to get things right.

As Charisma said 1.6 litre 20v from Levin is another alternative. Toyota quote 165bhp but believe it at your own risk. Blitz do a supercharger kit for this engine but your looking at the fat end of 6 grand just for the kit.

None of the above will be a cheap option - if you want the horsepower you have to be prepared to flash the cash

so how much has your complete engine set up and conversion with all mods included cost you so far.

The 4AGE 20v is very common used i Denmark. One of my friends have a Blacktop in his Carina E, and it have just been on the dyno it makes 161,7HK and 167,5NM from 3400-7400RPM, and it goes VERY well..he doesnt use the OEM box, but a modified 4AFE ECU...

But theres alot more torque in the 4AGZE engine, and the 20v its all about rpms, depends on what you like!

The thing theres a bit ****ty with the engine is that its not legale to have in your car in Denmark..but those who have the engine dont care...

i want one too! :D

Nope, i dont know how they do it, its only one guy in Denmark who does it, but hes a wizard when it comes to Toyota engines, he builds alot of 20v conversions and turbocharges the 4AFE/7AFE engine...

Its the same guy who owns the Starlet 20v turbo i have a post about in the Starlet forum..

and hes fair with his prices..i think the modifyed ECU cost around 1500DKR, that something like 150£
