T2 Trip Computer

On a couple of occasions recently my car's average mpg on the trip computer reset itself.

At first I thought that there was perhaps a loose wire, but all other settings e.g. miles travelled that journey, miles travelled since trip computer last reset, etc.

Has anyone else encountered this phenomenon?

It's not a major problem.....just a bit strange

mine does it. in fact it is at the dealers now for a few days whilst they try to find the problem. have already had one new computer fitted but it didnt seem to fix it. it normally happens to me when i stop at traffic lights, when i pull off it resets like when you fill up with fuel.

my advice is to take it to your dealer and tell them to contact ron brooks in mansfield, cause thats where mine is. hopefully they can sort it out. at the moment i think the dealer is stuck on what else to do. as you say its not a life threatening fault but still annoying.

Cheers for that Matty2767

I'll do what you suggest

Don't know about yourself, but other than this problem and initial problem (now sorted) with heavilly condensed headlamps, I am very happy with the car. Best Avensis yet.

I may be way off the mark here, but...

If the trip computer in a T2 (the one in the centre of the dash, not the one on the odo) is the same as the version that is in my T3-x. Then this resets itself whenever the petrol flap is opened. Hence there must be a solonoid within either the flap, or the flap opener (the button in the door) that signals this event.

Have you got them to check this? :)

i would hope that would have tried that first but you know what garages are like :)

i keep saying that there must be a sensor that makes the computer reset within the petrol tank area. but they keep swaping the computer. i have had 3 so far. the strange thing is they say the electronics in the computer have fried when they get it out of the car. could the sensor in the petrol flap be causing the computer to fry?

i have left it with the garage at the moment but i am moving jobs in july so i will be taking it to a different garage. hopefully i will have more luck there.
