For those who look after the forum and are able to change settings. Iv created my own forum, and at first anyone could post a message, so people were coming on as guests and posting, however recently i changed the setting so it was a requirement that to post you would have to sign up.

However, along with this you also have to sign up just to look at the forums, and i want it so guests can view the forums but not post until theyve signed up.

If its IBF forums, then you should have permissions for user groups..

e.g. members can view, reply, start new, delete, edit etc..

guests can view

etc..

its the same as this lol! i found a tab which says "allow guests access to the forum" i thought this meant it allowed them to view it, but not post, but theyre allowed to post so im still looking around

you need to go into the admin control panel, users & groups...

Go to:

-> users and groups

-> Manage user groups

Here you can define what each user group can do..

also have a look at

-> forum control

-> manage forums

You will have a list of your forums, click permissions, and this will allow you to define individual permissions for user groups
