4afe Gearbox Oil

1995 1600 carina e. 71000 miles 4AFE Engine the gearchange has become very hard and difficult to engage, getting into reverse is the hardest, but generally changing gear has become a bit of a chore. does anyone have any advice on what to look for? also what is the best grade of oil to use in this gearbox? any help suggestions would be most welcome. andy
