Buying A Used Corolla

I've owned a 92 Paseo for some time....great car, and was looking to get into a used Corolla.

I was thinking a '99 Corolla or newer.

I checked out a 2001 today with 42k on it..........are there any things I should mindful of/make a point to check on this car at this mileage/kilometers?

I did see something I thought odd: the screws holding the instrument panel in place (odometer, speedometer etc.) were rusted. Is this something others have seen?

Incidentally my paseo shows no signs of this and its 13 years old.

I am doing a VIN search to see if the 42k is legit.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi,

I was looking for an '04' and have found one. There is a post somewhere which is from other folks on what to look out for. I imagine the same points should cover the earlier model.

Cheers

Steve
