Cd Player - An Electrics Question

Got the unit today (Happy Birthday to me), and I'll do my best here to describe the electrics to you.

There's a twin green lead coming out the back, with one red and one white female connectors.

There's a black female connector too - possibly the power lead?

There's a seperate lead in a bag - one end has 14 wires in assorted colours (need stripping and fixing), and the other end is a big black plastic square sockety thing with 14 connectors. This one looks like the adapter I've bought (the one in the guide).

Am I all set to go safely? I really don't want to ruin my car! Also, by having the adapter, am I correct in thinking I won't need the last lead I mentioned?

Also, the adapter wassname that I bought has one of the pins missing (the brown wire one) - is this OK?

Sorry - I know nothing about either cars or electrics!

Only problem I encountered was when I turned the radio on after and could only get the local FM station - I hadn't plugged the aerial in! Had to take it all apart and start again... must have been picking up the local station through the aerial socket alone - crystal clear too.

Sounds the dogs boo-larks even now, so can't wait to get my new Speakers in next week.
