Cd Player Install

Being as Tapes are out of date these days a Tape player in the car just wont do so I have invested in a very decent Sony head unti to start things off.

Is it just a case of taking the front mount of the tape unit off and inserting the cd unit or are things a little more tricky than that?

a bit more tricky,

the cd player you have bought will more than likely have an ISO connector on the back of it. the starlet wiring harness is different and you need an adaptor lead.

take a drip down to Halfords and they've got them, i believe the starlet one is the same as the toyota corolla.

I took an alternative and slightly more messy route and soldered an iso connector on to the car end of the wiring loom. this makes changing stereos in future much easier.

just a word of warning, the starlet stereo cage is a screw in job not a bent sheet metal cage. you have to take the black surround out to get to it. where the hazard light switch is, have a peer underneath and you will see two screws take them out, and the black surround should pop out. from there its straight forward.

Cheers for the information, I thought it would be a little more to it than just swapping. Got the adapter, just a case of fitting the player now. WIll do that one day next week.
