Cd Player Problem

We just bought a 2000 W yaris 1.3 SR, which has a standard toyota single disk CD player in standard fitment.

The player takes in the CD, spins, but spits it out again. Tryed a brand new out of the box CD (Coldplay) but just the same.

Any advise? Is it terminal? Is it worth trying to get it fixed?

Hi and welcome Jill! :group-cuddles:

I don't think it would be worthwhile getting it fixed, I'd personally go for an aftermarket headunit!

It could be that the lens is dirty, you can buy special cd cleaning discs from places like WH Smith/hmv etc which go in CD players and use tiny brushes attached to the disc to cleanthe lens. I had a problem with my Mums cd player which would spin the cd then stop and do nothing (altho it was a normal household stereo) and it cured the prob.

They cost around £7 but it's worth a try, or see if anyone you know could let you use of theirs.

Hi,

I think it's a 'famous' or notorious problem with yaris cd players. I had the same problem and could not find a solution. There has been a thread in this forum dedicated to that problem. No solution yet I think. A common problem. Try yr luck in cleaning the lens or else go for an aftermarket unit.

Cheers

Ismael

Did you by from a Toyota dealer, i bought my car from one and the FM radio is jiggered, but we rang them up and they said if i brought it in they'd send it off to be fixed (so i'm heading into Doncaster tommorrow)

Try speaking to Mr T and see what they say

My CD player did exactly the same. It also went through a phase of not giving me the CD back when I wanted to change it, until I turned the engine off. It seems to have stopped now though. Have you taken it back to the dealer you bought it from?
