Avensis 1.8cdx

HI,

I'm going to have a look at one of these tomorrow and was just wondering what I should look out for in terms of common problems.

Also does anyone know when the timing belt needs changing on these things, It's a 1999 1.8cdx.

:) hi adam ,when i bought my avensis estate i was very pleased with it and still ,common problems none really,just check that everything electrical works ie windows,central locking,sunroof ,aircon if fitted,all radio Speakers and cd.get underneath the car check for any oil leaks ect ect.and the a.b.s is working

i have just had the bearings changed in the gearbox and this started as a faint tapping noise only in 5th gear but progressed to a grinding noise in all gears so have a good listen.

so with a toyota really you can`t go wrong.

Hi,

1999.....(i think)...is a Non-VVT-i engine so would need replaceing @ 60,000miles.

if its a VVT-i it would be chain driven so dont need to be changed(unless the cogs break in the engine )
