right, alignment couldnt sort out the rubbing. tein damper basic already as high as it can go, which is low anyway lol.

monday! getting all arches rolled and the inside of my OZ legerras shaved about 2 mm. will this affect the structural strength of the wheels?

gettins front camber bolts fitted also so the camber can be adjusted.

by the way, the blitz back box......... the way i see the exhaust today (standard) its all one peice up to the cat. will they weld on a plate for the back box to mount onto?

also where can i get a custom midpipe that goes from the manifold to the back box? no cat hehe.

counting the days till i get my blitz nur spec. middle of july it seems. short shift kit, shift light and VITZ Badge coming at same time too. will be posting some pictures soon.

thanks for any replies!!!

ok - as regards the back box - You need to get right under the car - tucked up just after the cat is a coupling whereby the backbox can be bolted on.

Im told these couplings can be one of two shapes - one for french built and one for jap built cars.

OK, really, WHY do people want to rebadge their Yarii as Vitz? I'm sorry if i'm sounding harsh, but WHAT'S THE POINT? If you want it to be a Vitz, just buy a damn Vitz. We have Yaris, Echo AND Vitz here, but nobody has even once tried to rebadge their cars as another respective model. Oh and let's not forget the Platz as well. Right, that's my rant over.

HA, but the Yaris is derived from the Vitz...So i'm more original :P Oh and don't forget about the turbos etc that can go on without any ECU problems :P

I've had this discussion on another forum. Believe me, there's no talking people out of it. One guy rebadged his Echo as a Yaris and couldn't understand why I couldn't understand, if you know what I mean. :P

Ah well, must go. Off to order a T Sport Badge and some NOS stickers off eBay. :D

Back on topic, I'm not sure I like the sound of shaving the rims. Couldn't the arches be rolled out more instead? Total ignoramus on these matters but I've not heard attacking the wheels before.

Don't do anything to your wheels mate, that sounds absolutely ridiculous, who recommended that???

the guy at elite direct? its in london. i think he's the top mech. was an old guy who understood everything.

i was a bit iffy about it too but he said it will give you more of a leeway for lowering the car. i dunno. the car seems low enough as it is. i just dont want to hit the arches. i would get 16s but i dont have the money at the mo. the arch rolling camber bolts and wheel shaving is being done for free cos they ****** up on wheel measurement. they said it would fit and it didnt. therfore doing extras to make up for it :D should i take the offer or not?

Wots the offset of your wheels????

Mines are ET40 & they only needed the arches rolled to get the coilovers down to the bottom on the back, but its going in on monday to get the front ones done :D

I haev camber bolt on my egg (approx. -1 deg. on both sides) corners awesome - I'd suspect that the car can corner faster than i have the guts to corner at this stage! :(

1 note tho, when you camber your wheels, it'll become harder to steer (not by much, but still noticible...)

And it will wear the tyres more

You don't think about it when cornering hard right's (or left's) at 80+km/h... I would have it out -1.5 on each (max for Whiteline bolts [for the yaris]...) but garage guy won't align it for me... :crybaby:

Yaris' are for corners! I love it when racing neck and neck into the corner and seeing the other car stomp the stop pedal as they watch my merciless assault on the corner ahead!

I heard Yaris' have pretty pure handling! does the Teins really make it "made for corners"! People usually complain about the rear not being wishboned or what ever (not that that should make much difference on a small power car! Atleast nothing anti-sways shouldn't fix)

Also you will probably get grilled soon (and rightly so) for your boasting of dangerous driving! if you do it and feel the need to boast, tell your friends who care don't post so that you feel your showing the world something as someone out there is bigger and better than you :P

Sorry for the rant... had exams today so im in a gud mood

Racing on public roads isn't the best of ideas. It's also the worst of ideas to post about it on here.

Granted we all like a spirited drive now and again, but racing in the way you've described sounds far too dangerous to me. Neither of you are trained racing drivers and you sound like you're very old, therfore your inexperience will be very dangerous to other road users.

Keep the racing for the track... i enjoy driving and have never said i don't speed or drive enthusistically, but racing is something i know will only lead to trouble.

Be safe people, accidents ain't very nice things.

agreed, but the teins really do make the yaris a cornering beast!!! stupid suzuki swift was left to smell fumes through technical street section :D

sorry, not really the anti race peep. high speeds are only dangerous without the right concentration, state of mind and equipment i think. im not one for racing though.

friend died from major car crash a few years ago just b4 xmas. kinda scarred all of us.

Sorry guys my bad... I hadn't known about TOC rules...wo't post about my adventures here then ;)

as for Teins! they rock! I'm seriously considering a set in the near future - but remember, the best setup is not necessarily the stiffest settings!!! Handling is a lot more than just rock hard suspension and chassis... ;) also, streetablity is a consideration if you intend to use your car as a daily too!

Well said. I have Tein HA coilovers, and while the damping can be adjusted to be quite stiff, I find the springs are still on the soft side. It's not perfect all the time but it makes the car very grippy and predictable even in rough conditions. Pretty happy compromise for a street car. :)

Need to consider the road surface that you'll be driving on most - on most roads, you need to have softer dampening and higher rebound for grip, streets are not circuit smooth...

stiff suspension + pot holes or bumps = handling nightmare esp thru the corner, it'll majorly wreck your efforts in smooth weight transfer and quite possibly your car too...

Weather is also another consideration as it'll alters the road surface, lowering your coeff. of friction - you'll be more likely to understeer or oversteer when cornering if your settings aren't right.

I've found that harder front and softer rear is better for the yaris as with our car - the tail gets light through the corner on entry normally (ie on stock suspension) thus oversteer - but hard front settings induces understeering so you can attack the corner harder - overcoming the tendency to tail out.

even on the circuit, rock hard suspension is not necessarily the best...it all comes back to SMOOTH WEIGHT TRANSFER - suspension helps a lot, but it doesn't mean you can tip your car into the corner and pray to your TEINS to get you out...drive good, and don't make TEINS your god... ;)

cheers,

theres not a chance i'd race on a public road - however i am quite interested in track days...

How much would a tein setup cost to buy and install realistically?

I may not have the power, but the Yaris is a light litlle buggger, and have a massive advantage through the corners.....
