I have a rotten egg smell when I accelerate in my 2002 Sequoia. I have been to the dealer 2x now and they told me that in this part of Tenn that the gas is a very bad quality and if I used a additive in my gas it would get rid of the rotten egg smell. So I did as they suggested and it still smells bad. It only happens when I accelerate so if anyone knows if I should pursue this further with the dealer let me know. Thanks for your time.

I agree. I also have that problem. Also when I have the back window down even slightly- the aerodynamics of the Sequoia seem to suck the exaust right into the car.

Also have you noticed that the rear of the vehicle gets dirty disproportionately to the rest of the car? Something with the aerodynamics.

Right I am not 100% familiar with the model, but if it is a late model petrol

engine car it will have a cat on it yes? When a cat is not at it's peak operating

temp it will emit a rotten egg smell, excess fuel going into the cat might cause this

too, does it get run properly or is it all short type of runs?

Get it good and hot then see if it still does it.

The comment above about aerodynamics might be the reason you can smell

the exhaust, if it is square backed you will get a vacuum forming behind the

vehicle, which will suck all the crud off the road up the back of the vehicle and

help fumes get back into the cabin.

Or if it's a diesel, forget all of the above, some one has put eggs in the

boot ( or trunk) and forgotten them

Does the rear "spoiler" help to keep the rear of the Sequoia cleaner? I've been considering having the dealership add one on to my 2001 to try to eliminate all the crud that builds up on the bumper/rear door. Would this serve as a fix to my dirt problem or is it simply a cosmetic item?
