So i'm guessing then that there are 2 different combos grey and black?

This will take more research than i expected.

Er.... embarassing admission time.

Happened to look down at gear knob and surround on way home from work. It's black! It isn't a black sort of black but a lot more black than in my pic.

Shall we call it charcoal?

The flash on a camera makes things lighter - my theory is that everyone has a black one but because of the flash and maybe bright light, it seems to be grey but isnt.....

Isnt charcoal black anyway?

OK, it's black. Just not a very black.... black. I'd said earlier I should've adjusted the pic's colour temperature for the flash. Ah well, at least I admitted my mistake and it proves I don't look at the gear lever when I'm changing gear! :P

It's obviously time to clean the interior if I can't remember what colour it is.

I swear it's definately more grey than black

Right who ever comes in the Blue with me now will be asked that very important question - what colour does the gear stick look to you?
