What Air Filter

Hi, :)

Please could someone advise me on what Induction kit I should buy :help: ; is K&N any good as I heard you have to clean the filters every so often  , where as with more expensive ones you don’t.

Is it worth spending the extra on an air filter i.e Apexi and if so where can I buy one? Sorry for the stupid questions but i'm a bit unsure at the moment if it’s worth buying an air filter or not.

Thanks.

I have a PiperX induction kit on mine,

many people prefer full jap mods (ie HKS / Blitz etc)

but mines good enough for me, sounds sweet (sucks like mad with my new turbo)

also people recomend you get them sheilded of from the engine, to get max cool air !!

Hi,

Thanks for replying  What did you mean by a full jap mod?

Was hoping is was going to be a five minute job of just bolting on the air filter.

I have been looking at a K&N 57i from Rogue Systems for £85.76 , unsure where else to look on-line, can anyone recommend any other websites.

Thanks again.

I only mean that K&N and PiperX is sometimes associated with 'Boy Racer' cars

Some Jap car enthuisiasts prefer to use only Jap parts like Blitz, HKS, Greddy, Apexi etc.....

But if you aint that worried then just go for a K&N or PiperX

Yes they are just bolt on, replace the air box.....easy

Rogue are MR2 specialists, so if they sell em, they must be ok !

On your NA

K&N you wont be disapointed.

I'ld spend around £100 and go for an APEXI, superb unit, great filtration and great sound. Will take about 15mins - 30mins to fit...

I used to have a HKS mushroom with the metal nitake pipe which did suond great on an NA but apparently not that good at filternig out the rubbish in the air....

APEXI was supposed to be the best unit available.

I've got a K&N 57i kit and I'm pretty pleased with it. Its only about £10 for the cleaning stuff and you dont need to clean the filter that often, its well worth doing though.

I still stand by my HKS Racing Suction kit. Change the filter regularly and you get no problems.

Full hard pipe from the filter to the turbo, so no vortexing whatsoever.

Most people criticise the HKS filters as they don't change them enough. They should be done every 2-3k miles, not 6k miles like some do.

Well today I made my mind up and ordered an A'pexi power intake kit, only trouble is that it's going to take 3 weeks before I receive it as it was out of stock at the moment. :crybaby:

Thanks to all that responded, I realise that like most mods it comes down to personal choice. :) Just hope I've made a good one!

Only 21 days to wait.

Cheers
