Thought My 10 Months Was Over Early!

Driving back from Rugby today, I almost thought my 10-month non-accident span was over 3 months early!

For those who dont know, I have a car for 10 months and something bad happens to it! I had my Matiz for 10 months and then was forced off the road in Coventry, so I bought my 1st Yaris, which I also had for 10 months until I got hit head on by a stolen car! Its a bit of a joke between friends that I'm the "10-month-girl" and my 10 months is up in this car in September, so if I pass Sept without a glitch I'm hoping my 10-month curse is broken!

Anyway, was travelling from Rugby on the A426 to the A5, the road is quite a bendy single carriageway so you cant overtake, so imagine the shock I had coming round a corner to see some eejit in a BMW trying to overtake a lorry coming the other way!:eek::eek: He'd already pulled out, even though it was a blind bend

The first thing I thought was "Oh s**t its happened again!" and slammed on the brakes, once again having nowhere to go!

And I dunno what happened, its all a bit of a blurr but he must've braked too (he was halfway past the lorry at the time of braking) and just sorta skidded back behind the lorry Hollywood stunt-driver style! Luckily there was no-one behind me or him as I had slowed to about 30 and he just sorted nipped back in behind this lorry and drove past me!

Needless to say I was a bit worked up so I stopped by the side of the road and put my hazards on..... to say I cacked myself is an understatement!

I just couldnt believe it - still cant! He was such an idiot for doing what he did but I was amazed at how he corrected himself..... I wish I'd stuck fingers up at him really or at least took his reg.... but you never remember these things!

What a :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: !

September it is then!

Anyway on a lighter note, KAORI ( :P ) has passed the 2000 mile mark today!

I think I need a lie down!

I would have performed a stunt driver style handbrake turn and tore it after him and introduced him to Mr. baseball bat! :D

Not really, glad you and Karis are alright Em, I'm presuming you have changed your underwear!

Still, you get used to t :censor: ers like this being on the road - heaven knows I've had to!:rolleyes:

So yep - still around! Not driving at all in September - ever! Gonna take a month off work and just sit in my house!

Glad to hear you're alrite Em.

Wot on earth possess people to undertake such manouvers, I still don't know.

If it had been me tho, I probably would have given chase, but that's me....

Still, the main thing is you're ok ;)

I'm not sure what scares me most, the high speed 'almost accidents' with people on the wrong side of the road (usually country lanes around North Wales) or the slow speed ones with vans and lorries (usually approaching the Mersey tunnel)!

Glad you and Kaori got through it all OK, Em. Can't have you or youki's mate being messed about!

As far as the guy in the BM is concerned, he was probably too busy getting his own act together and checking his underwear to be able to acknowledge you in any way!

Try to put it behind you and don't think about the 10 month thing. That's superstition and not going to help your own driving or confidence, Okay?

Big reassuring hug :group-cuddles:

Thank you Al.... :group-cuddles:

I try and joke about the 10-month thing, but I'd be lying if I said I wasnt worried about it - I do believe I'm cursed  I wont not believe that until September comes and goes!

Sorry to hear it Em, glad you're OK. But if you want to expeience some irrational driving and reckless behaviour on the roads, please give me a visit!

The driving standards are appalling here (don't know if I spelt that right  ). You have to drive like them, or you'll be the one causing the accident. We have the third highest death rate on the roads per capita in the EU. And considering there's only 750,000 people living here, it's not a good sign. I really can't imagine what my driving will be like in the UK in the winter. Probably not great...

I'm glad you're okay Em! I never cease to be amazed by the stupidity of other drivers - not that I'm necessarily an angel myself - but the chances some people take are just crazy.

I had a thing for ages about polishing my car... When I polished #1 it got splatted run into another driver not stopping in time. The only time I polished #2 it got written off the next day and the first time I polished #3 I got a puncture caused by a large chunk of glass in my brand new tyre...

I've polished it a couple more times since then and nothing has happened (crosses fingers whilst touching wood  ). It'll pass and you'll be fine ;)

Take care,

Alan

On a slightly non-lighter note, I've just found out I have to have an x-ray on my wrist because of my wrist problems since the accident in November.....

I cant even lift a kettle now without it hurting - the doctor thinks maybe I've fractured something

Dam that sounds like you were really lucky there girl. BMW drivers seem to think that they own the roads. Hey on a good note just glad to here that you ain't hurt or there is no damage to your car.

Roads are dangerous enough never mind when some :censor: head is playing chicken with your pride and joy :censor:

It is - I dont think anyone else has a car called Aoi - thats cute, I've not heard that before (its not in my Japanese lists! lol)

We now have a growing coup of Japanese named cars..... Kaori, Aoi, Youki, Ryu - its the latest TOC trend!

My cars been dubbed "Youki" by friends.... kinda a joke about subtlety i think...

Well that's OK. The name's not copyrighted! :P

Yeah, Youki means "ghost" or "ghostly".

Mine got christened that on its first night home. I abandonded her to go to the pub with my girlfriend in her new Vauxhall Tigra. When we got back and I got out of the car, my car's indicators flashed. My mobile must've accidentally pressed the keys in my pocket or something but it seemed so spooky.

And hence a car was named! :D
