hello again supra peeps

got a few more questions,

how many of you guys do your own engine modding and maintanence?

whats the 2JZ-gte like to work on? much space to get at stuff, just the external stuff realy, out of interest?

what's the general limit for the stock internals? i was thinking around 500 ponies? am i far off.. for a daily driveable car with only modest styling mods.

opinions appreciated.

cheers.

Karl

Servicing etc is a piece of cake (although mine has a full history so i get garages to do it so i can have the stamp  ) and im going to do all my servicing on my next supra myself.

Basic modifications are easy to carry out just like any car.

They are very thirsty though i must say, no idea how many miles to the gallon but i have managed near £80 on one fill up  And it only lasted a week or two, also i must add i dont drive to work in the supra so this is weekends and evening only ;)

Guy in the states has run 900bhp on stock internals....dunno if it has since gone pop or not.

500bhp isnt a difficult figure to reach. Gearbox wise auto is good for 500 and manual is good for 550 but above that they need upgrading.

Remember my UK Supra is for sale with the rare aero kit and is over 400bhp (awaiting dyno result from millway) ;)

hehe - shameless plug

They're not that bad too work on, but it even simple jobs need quite a few bits undoing to get at parts. Example: changing the spark plugs. As for getting the turbo's off, well you'd want to allow a full weekend for that!

They are easy to mod to 400 hp, just by upping the boost pressure. Internals can handle 500 easy, go past 600 and a built bottom end would be preffered. One of the best mods is a small single turbo (e.g. T61), good for 500hp and is very streetable.

There are lots of knowedgeable people on mkivsupra.net.
