 when can i start thrashing my car about upto 8200rpm?? is 600 miles like it says in the manual enough or should i wait a bit longer???? i tried blasting the car the other day but i felt like it was in pain so eased off the gas. it did feel real fast tho. does the gearbox get any better cos 2nd to 3rd is a NIGHTMARE at times esp when changing gear at about 4000 rpm.

btw i love my tsport and am disappointed that not many people have got celica tsports in this forum. everyone seems to be talkin bout corolla tsport!!!

can all celica tsport owners out there please start chattin.

I have a corolla .. same engine but my maual said not to go over 4000rpm till 2000 miles ...... at first it can seem a bit odd as most are not used to hearing their car make that kinda noise but after a while it just fuels the excitement ... bet you cant wait

At the end of the day how long do you plan on keeping the car for ???

If it's only a couple of years enjoy the most out of it now as the problems that you are likely to introduce will not effect the car until much later on in it's life. If it's something you plan on taking care of I would suggest 500-1000 miles depending on how you feel about the car !!

Hi bazTSport

Welcome to the club. If i was you i would wait till you have done at least 1000 miles on the clock. Let everything settle down and then you can start giving it some mate

cheers for replies!! feel like part of a happy family now!!

ermmmm.....been over 4000rpm more than i could count. not much point in staying below that now. done 590 miles. thrashed car so hard today on way to gym it almost made my eyes water.... BUT ITS LIKE A DRUG!!! so addictive i cant keep my foot off the pedal. just wanna thrash the engine.

dealer phoned me today askin how the car was. i said i liked it so much i joined a toyota owners club forum. not a big fan of internet usually. he began laughing and just said he hopes i dont turn into a boy racer medical student.....

will keep car forever as a homage to my love for celicas. will build upon my personal collection of sports cars starting with a porsche 911, then possibly a nissan 240Z 1972 then a SKYLINE R38 (when it comes out), then a NISSAN 350Z, then a MAZDA RX8 and finally a classic TOYOTA 2000GT if i can find one.

but the TSport will stay with me....so better take care of that REV METER

Would Of said 800 - 1000, but was told that these VVT-i engines dont really need the run in period as much??? So unless you tie your right foot up, LET IT DO ITS WORST!!!

Hmmm, it depends. Your are increasing the chances of engine faliure, but if uve thrashed it already, i doubt anything will go wrong then. If i were you, dont go anywhere near the rev limiter OK. Let it settle and it will give better performance, After 600miles your rings are bound to be beded in etc, but i wouldnt thrash it for long periods of time.

:o SCOT that car u got there is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! HOW AND WHEN DID U GET IT????

classic cars are the best.

u ever thought of buying a DATSUN 240Z???? I was so gonna buy a classic Japanese sports car but thought for reliability issues/ safety i would buy a brand new celica tsport

anyway thanks for info. i think i will treat my new car with a bit more respect for the next few hundred miles until the DAMN GEARBOX gets better between 2nd and 3rd. REAL SCARED OF SHOVING IT INTO 1st by MISTAKE!!!!
