Want to change my B*w to a MPV, and been told at LOC that the Previa/Estima are pretty good, but which should i go for, it seem that the Estima is better, but i never imported a car before, and im a bit worry about getting 1 from online importer that i never hear of, Previa on the other hand i can get from Toyota dealers which is good if something go wrong, is there more Pro to make me go for the Estima? if so anyone know a good Importer ? (in Yorkshire area will be perfect....)

Maz - what age are you talking about? I've got a 2002 Estima on it's way over right now, if you want help importing one I can give you a few tips. :)

It's not that difficult to actually import one now, but the processes are a bit involved, and as far as I know I'm one of the first with a new shape import, which surprised me to be honest! I'm using a company called Autoadvan, seem to be ok so far too. You will need a model report which you can get from www.modelreports.com as long as it's an ACR30W chassis type. The !Removed! have a 3.0 version and 4wd versions too, but as yet there are no model reports available for them so you can't import one!

Have a look at this link to the one we've bought;

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/860040

It's due into Southampton in 2 weeks time. If you're serious about one then I can give you detailed advice on how to do it and what to be wary of!

Cheers mate, Glenn.

Maz - sorry for the slow reply (just got back from Le Mans!) - it's a gen 1 March 2002 model, should pan out at around £13k once it's on the road here - saving approx 3k on the same thing if bought here! And of course it's already had a bodykit and other stuff added too! If you fancy some of the same you just need a little patience until the right one comes up for auction, the !Removed! often modify their MPV's (unlike here!) so one will appear at some point. Of course if you want an unmodded one it makes it even easier. As I say, to the best of my knowledge ours is one of the first of this shape brought in to the UK privately, so buying one like it from a Uk supplier is not very likely, at least from their stock. You could order one from a specialist, but they will only do the same as I have done, plus add their bit on top. Which is why I took the plunge and cut out the middle man!

Autoadvan seem ok so far, try registering as a member on their site (free) and you can then look at whats about to be autioned to give you some idea of what's around over there. They have a forum too which could help you. Anything else you want to know just drop me a line.

Cheers Glenn

Hi Pete - yeah wasn't it a scorcher! Dunno about you but I came home a bit red in places! Think I made a good move though and decided to walk round the circuit at night after saturdays high temps, got back in time for brekkie sunday morning and then a few hours kip before watching the last hour and a half up to the finish. Some of the guys I went with braved it around midday on sunday and wished they hadn't - they conceded it was too hot to watch in the open and just hit the bar! I like to see the race and have a few jars too, so I reckon I got it about right! Shame there's no Toyotas to cheer on though at the mo, eh?

Cheers Glenn
