I have a metallic black Yaris which isa year old and 2700 miles on the clock. I keep getting fine scratches on the bodywork for no apparent reason. What is the best way of getting rid of them? Is cutting polish a good option?

Thanks

Brian

A bit of T-Cut should do the job to hide them a bit more for just now!

Whoa! Isn't normal T Cut too abrasive for metallics? They do one especially for lacquer coated metallic paints. Best to get that one so you still have a top coat afterwards.

brillo pad?

Ordinary T Cut is a bit like that anyway.

hi Brian,

welcome to our club :group-cuddles:

you need a very fine scratch remover,i use bodyshop products but your best to use meguiar's scratch X .

alot of people on here use it .

then use a good wax polish to protect your paintwork.

the scratches could be being caused by hidden dirt picked up in your sponge,

or maybe on your cloth when your cleaning your car.

pollishing scratches out isnt very effective on metallic cars.

I think autoglym polish got rid of one on my thunder grey.

They say to apply a bit more pressure to remove light scratches. And only light.

You can get thin tubes of scratch remover - meguiar's scratch X (black i do believe) as mentioned and my carplan (i think), which is red and white.

Anything felt when running a nail over it wont be complety removed though. It'll just reduce its appearence slightly.

Used Scratch X on my Sisiters new modded Caravelle yesterday (metallic black) after she reversed into something, scratches were all along the door and wheel arch...

The paint turned straight from the horrible grey to black... OK there were a few marks that couldn't be got rid off but considering there were deep scratches to the point it had dented the body we were all very impressed...

Will be using it on my car as soon as the rain stops, I'll post the after clean photos when i can :D

Really need to get a bit of Meguiars on mine, and then some polish too before JAE...

Mind you i went out to my car the other day outside Mr Canavan's to find a large dent in my rear passenger door and a chip by the rear light cluster which has gone down to the metal :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor:

Looks like someone caught it with a handbag or something, it's at a really funny height! Touched it up for now but i ain't impressed, Chris will tell you how long i ranted on for! :ffs:

Meguiars ain't gonna fix that!!

I cant stand people who do that - no respect for anyone else.

In that respect its a shame Big Brother isnt watching us, else you'd be able to find out who the bar steward was and get them to cough up....:angry:

They even wiped the dirt off to see the damage they had done!

Not impressed!
