A convertible as a learner car?? lol Those driving schools are trusting!:lol:

We just get the bog standard ones up here - Focus, Corsa, Fiesta, 206..... no convertibles or anything flash though.

Those convertible driving schools are asking for trouble though - a learner driver kerbs their alloys or whacks into a lamp post - OUCH! Its not so bad in a Corsa!

Never seen a Yaris learner car - probably because the instructor wouldnt be able to see the digital dash!:lol:

Arthurpewty (I think) on here has a Flame Gold T-Sport which he uses for driving instruction!

I also remember seeing somewhere dual controls for a Yaris plus a analogue speedo which is for the adi's use and is obviously separate to the digi dash - dont ask me more as I cant remember!

We were all learner drivers once remember!

Really? We must all be terrible drivers in the Midlands then - instructors dont trust us up here!:lol:

I learnt in a 1.6 Fiesta myself - I sooo wish it had been a classy convertible - but hey ho!:lol:

As well as the usual array of Corsa's, fiesta's, 206's and Focus's. I have seen the following used as learner cars (proper driving school ones too)

Toyota Yaris

Toyota Celica (Gen6)

Toyota Corrolla

Toyota Rav4

Skoda Fabia & Octavia

BMW 3-series

Audi A2

Audi A3

Mini (One & Cooper)

Honda Jazz & Civic

Think that's about it... i had to double take at the 3-series! Still, that's what's us leeds & bradford folk learn in!

Yep, it's me!

I do teach in my Gold TS, and sometimes i think i must be mad! God they make me cry sometimes :crybaby: ..............but the way i look at it is My car is my office and also a promotional tool,if i feel comfortable and safe and it looks good too it can only be good for business.

I can spend the best part of 14 hours in there on a busy day so i dont need some dodgy corsa or fiesta.......the pupils love it too.......they all want one!

We do have a couple of other exotic toyotas locally, My friend Pam teaches in a 1.3 Yaris SR and there also used to be a Purple Corolla SR locally too but this instructor has bought a new Corolla now!

Sweeeeeet,

not got dual controls then?

Most instructors in a particular area can get mega deals on a Corsa like the dual controls for free and what not. I expect that influences alot of instructors.

I personally learnt to drive in a Vauxhall Carlton 2.0, Nissan Bluebird 2.0 Turbo (on the side like) and officially a Corsa 1.9 Turbo ULSD

neeever mind. Wold be good to learn in a rav 4 if its the newer four door bigger ones, because it'll help the student cope with larger 4x4, I absolutly hate doing any manouvers in our RAV4, especially reversing... when youve only been shown how to do them in small cars!

Still, when your in a car that size is a case of the other car should have seen you :lol:

Yeah, I've seen a yaris or 2 that are used as a learning car, always wondered what they did about the display.

I learnt in a Corolla 1.6 sport, my instructor got the sport because they were about to change the models & they were going for about the same price as the standard 1s so he got that. He changed it while I was still having lessons with him and got a standard 1, felt so much easier to drive, the gears were so far apart & things like that.

I've only ever seen 1 SR used as a learner car....

Although down here there are a few BMWs bombing round, as wells the usual C2s, Corsas and Polos etc..

I've seen a new clio 1.2 16v lowered, alloys, lexus lights, and window tints where I work in Basingstoke. Always brings a smile to my face when I see that :P

Also forgot to say that there is a Twilight Blue Yaris Blue (which is a 1.0L - I can tell as it's only got the basic hubs, not alloys on it like the 1.3's do as standard) around the corner from here which is used for driving instruction - often the guy drives down the road and he always stares at mine - it's quite funny really! His is an 04, and mines a 54 so he probably thinks I copied him :D

I learned to drive in a Renault Megan 1.6, I hated it at first, as the back of the car sticks out further then the back window by miles so reversing is a b"tch.

I think that driving instructors get a big discount on there learner cars, because if the Pupil grows to like to car they will buy one. Well that’s the theory any.

It was a big shock when I first drove my Yaris S 1.0L No PAS, ABS Sun Roof, Electric Windows, Adjustable height Seats, Electric Mirrors.

But I soon got to love the honesty of the basics in my Yaris I feel like I’m driving the car, not the computer drive the car.

There's an instructor near me who uses a tsport. Think he just trades by the name billericay - and he's from billericay!

He used to have a blue one, now he's got a black one.
