Corolla 1988 1.6 engine modles are

4A-F from 1987 -1992 and 4A-FE from 1988-1992

the 16 gti engine code is 4A-GE from 1987 - 1992

If you can match those engine ID No's up with the celica engine modle then it's a yes

The 4A-FE was definately used in both corolla's and celica's.

Go check that engine code boy

very nice indeed :D

I'm in the north east and unfortunately will not be bringing either of the gen 4's to the shows this year.

Ive been showing the Gen 5.

I did show the gen 4 convertible last year, and next year it will be the Gen 4 4x4 turbo.

The largest national meeting of all japanese cars is JAE next month, nearly eveybody will be there and I am absolutely certain the 1.6 celica will be looked over by the TEC (toyota ebthusiasts club) celica club uk and TOC.

It is very rare to see the 1.6 in this country.

I've been involved in the worldwide gen 4 scene for some time and have only came across 1 other which is in the USA, now that I remember - I was chatting with the guy last year.

I'm sure the engine is definately 4AFE.

all the best and my regards to your dad - it's great to hear of other gen 4 fanciers in the UK, we're very much a dying breed as these cars have no lost love as they are scrapped. I saw loads last winter get broken up for spares and sold for a pittance... very sad but the way of the world.

must be a nippy little twin cam, are you coming to JAE with the cars?
