Do you mean the whole bonnet bounces? or does the bonnet flex in the middle??

Toyota noticed they had a design flaw on the early gen6's and when they did the face lift model they added a bonnet spoiler to stop that flex.

Not sure if that would be anything to do with it (also that was only above 100mph!)

If the whole thing is bouncing get it fixed quick! I've seen a van on the motorway who's bonnet popped open, smashed the windscreen then started bending over at the top and cutting through the roof!

His is a Gen 4..... Bonnet lift is quite common on a lot of cars. All to do with aerodynamics and airflow stuff. All that air being pushed into your engine bay has to come out somewhere. Under the car is good, pushing the bonnet off aint. A lot of the GT4 boys over on GT4OC have removed the rear water seal that runs beneath the bonnet along the top of the firewall this allows a lot of air to flow freely through the engine bay. Whether or not it`s very efficient i wouldn`t like to say.

look at the front of the slam pan and also along the inner wings where the bonnet will rest and check you have the rubber mounting pieces that the bonnet sits on when closed.

If any of these are missing then the bonnet will vibrate and bounce at high speed.

Also check the bonnet catch without delay - I have personaly experience a faulty bonnet catch on a celica and it is not good news - if lifts up at high speed, shears off at the hinges - bends back the wings by the hinges, smashes the windscreeen and smacks the roof. All not good, especialy if it decapitates old Mrs Brown on the way to the doctors surgery.

OK, thats worse case scenario - but it happens.

It's bound to just be missing rubber mounts that the bonnet sits on.

Karl
