Power Problems Supra Turbo

Hi all,

Starting to like this forum more lately so I thought id ask another question. Iv got a Supra Mark 3 Turbo 1990 manual. Its got an Exedy clutch, superchips re-mapped ecu, induction kit, Cobra custom fit made to Supra Exhaust, Group A dump valve and lowered. I was considering ordering some gear to increase its performance but have put that on hold for the moment due to some problems.

I changed the sparks and Battery in the last year and had a service on it. Before I changed sparks and Battery car ran fine. A while after this I started to have a cold start issue. Iv changed the Ecu since and got it remapped. Iv searched around the engine for leeks and wondered whether this problem had anything to do with the fact that in the first instance the cold idle doesn't work out right. I got a Supra Tuner for modifed cars to plug a laptop in originally and had an error. The only thing it must be now is smth Ecu engine or smth else... :ffs:

Anyway dis-regard that the car has no way the output on acceleration it had. The car Battery in fact isnt for the Supra I just got one that was simular size and I can't remember for the life of me what gap I put on the sparks although I did ask advice at the time.

I cannot find leaks or anything like that and is it possible throttle body is blocked? I have no idea whats up and if Supra expert has no idea either then gosh seems Im in a spot of bother :help:

what error did he get?

Its one of two things i reckon...

a bodged 'superchip' (which is a joke in itself, superchips are a con... sorry)

or the dump valve causing problems with unmetered air.

Mine and Millys do this too... they seem hard to start at first, but run fine and re start fine.... both have hgad new engines put in recently, neither seem to have any leaks, mine runs a recirc blow off valve... no idea really!!!

I did recently have a starting problem that was down to oil in the ignitor plugs, so Maybeits a weak ignition thing....

I'll keep you poste dif I fond oput anything.. but I have not really looked into it

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help, actually with the superchip thingy i noticed more of a punch. The dump valve however was already there when i got the car and must admit I think that is a possible source of the problem. I noticed when i put a bailey dump valve dv24 as a test it absolutely killed the engine at the traffic lights...Dv26 models and up for Supra not that I care much for the dump valve and especially Baileys questionable they are...

Both my old ecu and the superchips didn't affect the engines idle so that isnt that. As for error codes well whiffin didn't actually show me and I know that smth that was supposidly done wasn't i checked.

error code 51 Switch Signal No "IDL" signal, "NSW" signal or "A/C" signal to ECU during diagnostic check A/C switch circuit A/C switch A/C amplifier Throttle position sensor circuit Throttle position sensor ECU ..

How true this report from him is Im not sure. As karma said before dump valves do have probs and as u mentioned this to me also....Power problems dont help with poor performing dump valves with air flow etc.....Ill change in in next 2 weeks to smth more compatable maybe.....

Cheers
