Probably the easiest thing to do is chop it in for a decent Gen 6 GT4.............

Cheaper too I would imagine.........

Couldn't really tell you mate, sorry.

No offence meant at all, but if you are unaware of the type of engine currently in the car, how will you choose the correct turbo?

Given this information, we will be able to advise accordingly. :D

How cna you tell the diff between the engine's

They all look they same?

Plus if had it turbo'd id take it to a pro, and they would sort it all out!

Cheapest and easiest way to go is to buy a stock GT4. If you get one from a dealer you should have a warranty IF anything should go wrong.

The pottential for trouble with a conversion is basically this, The engine being converted is unlikely to have been designed with a turbo in mind, therefore yoiu will have to rebuild/replace various parts of it. In addition the fueling will have to be addressed along with a multitude of other bits and pieces. The end result will be an expensive rebuild with no gaurantee that it will be any better than a stock factory built car. It`s fairly reasonable to assume that it wont be.

a good celica owner knows the engines by looking at em , yours will either be 3sfe or more than likely a 3sge.

at the bulkhead is usually a sticker stating the engine in red lettering.

if its the 3sge the turbo mani and stuff can be used from a 3sgte as the internals etc i think are the same as they are ge versions and if its fe then you can still turbo it just keep it on like 8-9 psi and have good fueling rrfpr, walboro feul pump, 3sgte maf and an ecu as well should be o.k

Agreed. But is the cost of sourcing, buying then paying someone to fit everything then have it set up properly on a RR worth the hassle?

On top of that, what happens when you tell the insurance company it`s a conversion. They`ll load the premium sky high.

IMO it`s just not worth it. Go get the proper job.

i heard waffle too many times on here now.about people and their dreams about turbos. and fitting 3sgte engines - its about time we saw some evidence - i'd also like to point out the sum of a grand or so fitting uprated brakes to your car too ( unless you get used parts ) , so as you can stop in time due to having turbo power. something else for you to think about.

Agreed with the others here - if you want more power, buy a GT4. It's a properly engineered solution, offering proper reliability, and off the shelf parts. Why re-invent the wheel when someone else already spent millions designing a perfectly good one?

The only reasons I can see to do a turbo conversion or transplant are:

1) There is something special about the car you already have (e.g. one off bodykit)

2) You fancy the challenge of 'doing-it-yourself', and I get the distinct impression that isn't your case.

There are other ways to improve the power output from a non-turbo engine, but we are talking the odd hp here and there, you're never going to get the equivalent of turbo power without serious tradeoffs (like endning up with a car that's no fun as a daily driver).

I know all about the changes you have to make with conversions, cuz my last car used to be a pug 306 1.4 then i changed the engine to a 2.0 Xsi.

I don't wanna change my car cuz ive only had it 2 months and spent quite a bit of money on it already.

Plus if i sell my car i an't gonna have no where near enought to buy a GT4!

I'll onlt get about £2000 for it!
