Hi does anyone out there know much about swils pots and catch tanks? :bookworm:

The differences, benifits, resons for fit them?

How to go about fitting them and the princibles behind them?

Sorry for sounding thick answers on a post card to: Me right here (well below is fine!)

Thanks for any replies!

a swirl pots main job is to swirl fuel or liquid to get rid of any air bubbles, whereas a catch tank catches any gas or oily residues from the breather line. in extremis the catch tank could allow you to run your car safer cause those residues wont re-enter the intake tract.

catch tanks just fit anywhere i suppose, just anywhere near the main engine block, then the breather line goes into it, with a filter stuck onto the other end, or something like that.

Unless you were going to a full aftermarket fuel system then the swirl pot would be little use.

Catch cans came mainly from motorsport they are used as said above to stop oil vapor re-entering the intake but the main use was to stop any fluids coolant or oil being allowed to breathe/spill onto the track when racing.

Would it be worth fitting one to my cooling system to see if it takes away the ab norm air problems I've got with mine!

Could always com in handy if doesn't work suspose, if not through the roof costs

Oh I e-mailed the guys & or girls at the link you provided for me in the poss head problems post!!

Stop liquid getting on track  like my anti freez vapour going up the side of the wing (can't be good for the paint!)

as stated before the swirl pot isnt really needed unless you are using a whole new fuelling system but i guess you could you it in the cooling system i relly dont see much point though. uprating the rad would have more of an effect on cooling effeciency.

the catch tanks are a waste of time on most cars unless you have an after market bov and dont want to link the breather back to the intake or stick a filter ontop of the crankcase (which i personally do not like).

only real need for it is for show or to accomidate for some serious modding where things need to be moved/repositioned ect. making a whole new breather system using a catch tank can be benificial sometimes but it depends entirely on what mods are going to be done.

makes it look good though.
