:) need help with 1996 toyota corrolla 1.6 liter engine. No fire to plugs. plug wire ohms test results are #1=10.63k,#2=9.42k,#3=7.78k and #4=6.84k ohms.Pick up sensor in distributor=217.5 ohms and main coil=.5 ohms. There is +12.14 volts going in to the coil on one wire, if you ground the neg. test probe to the engine block, but there is no voltage going in to the distributor if you put the neg. test probe in the harness coming to the distributor along with the + test probe in the same place as the first test. Is the wire in this harness coming from the igniter box it seems to be and what signal or voltage should you get with the engine turning on the starter. where can I buy a good book on this, a shop manual or repair manual. or get a wiring diagram on these circuits, with expected voltages. Does the pick up sensor wires in the distributor go to the computer or the igniter. Thanks in advance. ALLISON CHENELL. P.s. Plugs look good also, nice tan colour.

Hi, its good that your being thorough but you may be missing the point the tollerances and levels in a DC car circuit are never exact so this is not a very good way to illiminate probs, its a little overkill.

go back to holding a plug on the block with a plastic pair of pliers and get someone to turn the engine over and look for a spark, if all fire ok then you have a fuelling problem, check there is fuel in the rail by carefully undoing the bolt in the end where the valve is (far end) hold a clean rag around the end to avoid spillage.

If there is fuel in the rail then the problem is with the timing or the injectors are blocked, obviously if there is no fuel its a filter/pump prob.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
