wouldnt bother really

only real thing they do is drink fuel.

its a small resistor that you fit in your air temp sensor, which i belive (either) fools your cars ecu into thinking there is cold air coming in, or it uses some cold start mode in your ecu or something like that...:huh:

basically as j said, it dumps more fuel in... :arrgg-matey:

my mate got one which i tried in my car and i could feel a difference in the way the engine pulled, nothing impressive tho... i wouldnt put it back in because it murdered my fuel consumption.

Like it says at the bottom of the link you provided doesn't work on turbo cars!

Why bother tying to mod a non turbo'ed lump just change the lump, its the best way to get power gain and in most cases the most cost affective!

Engine just over £450 quid form fensport, kit just over £1200!

my last car I spent £986 getting just 89bhp from a stock 55bhp Thats £29 per BHP gained. Now 133bhp from 80odd in 4E-FE non turbo just over £22 per BHP gained.

Plus I prob spent a little more than that as when I did it parts were more, this based on prices now!

Also with a turbo lump tuning gain are geraly cheper, bleed valve like £9.99 you'd ave to buy same things like full decat zorst, intake/filter as norm lump and by then your looking at 150ish power add a fuel computer or Fuel Cut Defender and you got even more!

My motto is start with good one fishish with a great one!

its a load of bull, as has been said, it just makes the car really poor on fuel

basically what it does is fool the ecu into thinking that the air entering the engine is colder than it really is, hence the ecu tried to math the " colder " and hence denser air with more fuel. now what these people believe is that more fuel = more power. they are wrong. since the ecu is fooled into thinking there is more air, it pumps more fuel, but the reality is that there ISNT any extra air, so you'll be running quite rich....which doesn't increase power, it greatly increases fuel consumption, and in extremis could damage your engine....you do not get " cheap " horsepower...ever....

i will admit that it can improve some cars that run right on the limit of being lean or are running lean already. but buying something like that to try and stop a car running lean isnt the proper way to do things.

this isnt that common though so alot of the time its a waste of money. those resistors have been around for years. people still seem to buy them so they still make them.

as every1 said, whether it makes an improvement or not, it will affect fuel consuption.

oh and by the way riko666, you can get cheap horsepower if you know some1 who will do work on your car for free. just cleaning and adjusting certian things can create a gain and that doesnt cost a thing.

If some1 gives you a car then thats cheap horsepower. 75bhp for £0 cant be bad!

im not taking the ***** i thought i would just mention it so people understand that they can improve their car without having to spend loads of cash on worthless tat.

i do know what you are getting at though.

hehe, but thats cheating :P nah, i mean you cant just bolt on power...cheaply (i mean reaaally cheap)...and reliably. sure, if you're turbo'd or start with a good base then its certainly easier, but anything that claims to have their own way of making power very cheaply (resistors, vortex inducers in intakes, electric superchargers...) is just a gimmick that usually ends up damaging the car..
