Replacement Brakes/discs (gen 7)

The time has come for me to start fettling with my car. The discs are starting to become worn and pads will soon be on their way out.

This is my dilemna: Do I go for the full upgrade i.e. bigger discs and pads? If so do I need to increase front and rear? Or do I stick to the same size and go for something different than stock? Can somone recommend the best brakes/discs combination, which brand I should go for and whether it's worth getting supersized?

Thanks

Umm... Don't know fella... Its something I'm gonna consider in the future, but have spent no time researching it yet... you can have a look at Fensport, as they do conversion kits. Give them a call, and I am sure they'll be able to advise. And there'll probably be someone else on here who has done similar already, and if not here, definately Celica-Club.

Good luck, and welcome to our little gang!

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade the brakes too much as you then start messing with the balance of the car - potentially ruining the handling.

I'd get drilled/grooved discs and green stuff pads.

Remember aswell that the brake discs on the T-Sport are an inch bigger than the 140bhp anyway.........15inch I think.

Not so sure thats a good idea... The discs are already vented, they are vertical vents, so they already have a means of cooling... Surely its better for the friction (and your pads!) to have a complete surface that the pads can grip on to, rather than a 'disturbed' surface (ie grooves / holes). Its only my pathetic logic though, so I'll wait to be corrected...!

and green stuff pads

Two words... Brake fade. I wouldn't, personally, but its your choice...

Good point... Exactly how quickly do you want to stop??? You'll be getting whiplash if you're not careful...!!
