Alarm & Petrol Consumption

Hi,

I bought my first Toyota Carina E (1996, 45,000 miles) and it's very good to drive. However, I find that it's a little too thirsty on petrol - I only get about 28 miles driving about town (I live in London!). Is this normal for a 1.8 engine or is it low?

Also when I bought the car, I didn't receive the alarm key which the prev owner didn't have. Is there an inexpensive way of making a copy? Can you please tell me how?

Please help.

Thank you for all the good stuff I read on this site and keep it going.

Town driving is very thirsty so 28mpg might be about right - you'll only know really after comparing it to a long run - my current record for my 1.6 is 43mpg (nearly all motorway, easy on the gas).

Is it an auto?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. My Carina is a manual. I'll have to try it on the Mway sometime and see the difference.

Can you or anyone help with where I can find the replacement of my car alarm key.

Thank you

Good weekend to all.
