Celicume... are there any other tricks your not telling us about that you have used to get more power from your car?

another one we use here is drilling the airbox and something i have done but nobody has followed is bypassing the throttle heater which gave a massive increase in lower down grunt.

Whats does the throttle heater do, how does this mod work? It sounds interesting.

coolant runs through the intake so it never freezes in the coldest of countries...

basically join the two pipes together that flow coolant through the intake and get more torque :D

Have you run it like this all through winter? I am tempted to give it a try, but I don't want my throttle to freeze on extra cold days.

Sorry, my understanding is pretty rubbish, when you say intake I think of the part that takes air in. Could you explain it a bit more to me, I understand that coolant doesn't freeze, but thats about it...

It routes the warm engine coolant around the throttle body to heat it up. In cold weather the effect of the intake draught can cause moisture in the charge air to freeze, icing up the throttle butterfly. This used to be a more common problem with carburated engines, as the fuel evaporation cooled down the air even further.

Another effect of heating the charge air is that it makes the engine more economical. Maybe your changes are part of your fuel economy problems cookci?

:crybaby: Sorri but i can't understand this modified........can you explain to me in a very simple main it??? How do you intend when you say "drilling the airbox"??? And for the throttle heater??? eeeheheheeh what a fhathead :help:

Another tricks..........ok, i have removed the first resonator in the front bumper to give more air flow to airbox..........then.........i have removed between the vapour oil recirculing...........then......there's no one............Now, i want to smooth the inside of airbox and improve the section where the airbox takes cold air............

Modified means changed or altered. Like you've descibed, your 'tricks' are modifications to your car.

Drilling the air box means using a power tool to put holes in the air box. The throttle heater thing I only just about understand myself :D , can't explain.

If someone can post up a pic showing what pipe goes where on this throttle heater it would be a great help

The rubber pipe used to connect here and here:

simply connect them together using a bit of metal piping and some jubilee clips :thumbsup:

On the gen 5 they are these two:

I guess it's a pretty similar layout to the gen 6.

After having a quick look around the Internet for this stuff, it seems that the heater is generally needed for ambient temps of 5 degrees C or less. When you lift the bonnet after a run, the whole of the top of the engine is quite hot from heat conduction, inlet manifold and throttle body included. I can't see this mod having much effect on those temperatures, but I certainly wouldn't feel too optimistic about running with it bypassed in the winter. It's not much fun having your throttle frozen open!

i know quite a few people that have been running with them bypassed for years now with no problems and my honda never had any troubles all through the winter.

I can feel a big temperature difference just by touching the metal round the throtle with/without the heater running even after a long drive

Had a quick look. The pipes seem to have welded themselves on :(

Does it really make that much of a difference? And what does it do to the fuel economy?

made a nice difference to lower down power yes... well on my last 2 cars it did :)

Shouldn't affect the fuel economy

Celicume have you removed the catalytic converter from your car?

Absolutely no!!! It will less power to low rpm................ And you???

the general Consensus is that it increases power lower down!

Im not sure how or why and i have actually tried it and it does... however it may just be me that beleives this but i think it lowered my peak BHP!
