Mix 3sge With 3sgte Short Block

I have a 91 Mr2 3sge motor but its throwing a rod and i have a 3sgte short block I want to know if i can use the 3sge head on the 3sgte short block

I don't think so but the could be wrong, also uselful to know would be the years of the engine as there were differences pre and post 93

i read an article saying the bottom ends are the same APART from the gte block has and attachment which sprays oil on the underside of the pistons.

so if you were to use the ge block in a turbo environment you may over heat and damage the pistons.

could you open the 2 bottom ends up and maybe swap the piston coolers onto the ge block?
