Avensis Verso Delivery Time

I ordered a new Avensis Verso T-Spirit (with Full Colour Map Sat Nav.) at the end of February from a UK Finance company (mann Island Finance), who buy direct from Toyota UK.

I was initially told that the delivery time would be 12 weeks.

This seemed like an excessively long time for a car bought in the UK (not an import).

At the beginning of May I was told that the car was not expected until July.

They were not given any particular reason by Toyota.

When I phoned them yesterday, I was told that it was still expected "sometime in July", but they could not get an exact date from Toyota UK.

This seems rather worrying. I thought that manufacturers usually scheduled a build date shortly after getting an order.

I was also told that the Avensis Verso has to be imported from Japan.

This seems unusual, as it must share many common parts with the Avensis, which is built in the UK.

How long should I expect to wait for a new Avensis Verso and should I have been given a build date / delivery date?

:help:

Hi there,

Similar story to me. I ordered my Avensis Verso on the 20/3/04 and it was delivered on the 12/6/04.

The Avensis Verso is built in Japan and because I had specified the sunroof and full map stuff was built to order. The car took about 6 days to build so most of the waiting time is while it sails on a cargo ship from Japan to the UK.

I bought mine from a Toyota dealer and was able to track its progress from Japan through their computer systems.

While the Avensis and Avensis Verso may share many common parts (mostly supplied by Denso Corp.) the bodies and suspension bits are unique.

Seems odd that an exact date can't be given, as said in the previous post.

Mine's a 'normal' Avensis estate, and when I ordered it (from Finland) the dealer checked his computer -- 'oh dear, there are no more like that in port'. But he was able to identify one that was on the production line in the UK and heading this way via Sweden. He booked the work for cruise control fitted at port and CD changer at his own dealership etc. a couple of months ahead.

Your car may well be out of production by now, at the Japanese port or on the ship already.
