He should pay for what he did - no matter what his circumstances are..you trusted him with your motor and he does this to it :ffs: :ffs:

A friend with no respect for you or your property is no longer a friend...

Cars are replaceable at a cost, mostly out of your/my pocket, if he was a true friend he would offer financial help towards your up and coming expenses which I doubt will happen.

Maybe its time to find new friends who respect you as obviously this person has no regard for you at all.

Sorry to hear this sad news, if i was you i WOULD be asking.. no, TELLING him to cough up for at least some of the repair bill. I would also be telling him how much trust i had in him, and how much faith in him has been lost. Hope you get it fixed as soon as.

Wow, I'm stunned.

Sorry to hear about this, Camshaft. You sound like such a decent guy to be almost more disappointed in your friend than in the damage he's done.

Surely he's said something to you? Apologised? Offered to at least help pay for the repairs?

I hope he sorts it with you. If not...

kill.

Hello sweetie pie

Now, I'm a pretty placid kinda gal, some might say I'm a walkover, others might say I'm just sweet - whatever you call me, I'm simply speaking, a bit on the docile side! My friends all know this, however my close friends know I have a side to me that yoiu should never cross!

Lets just say I would not be placid or docile if a friend of mine did anything of the sort to my car! I'd go mental AND I'd demand they pay for the damage they caused - drunk or sober, if you're entrusted to look after someones property and scratch/break it - then you pay for it to be replaced or get a replacement!

Personally I find it absurd that your "friend" hasnt even offered to pay, or apologise for that matter! But if I were you, I'd definitely ask him to cough up (although I bet he'll be surprisingly skint  )

Nevertheless, you dont need "friends" like that. :group-cuddles:

Hope you get it sorted soon - your mate needs a good seeing to - and I dont mean in the nice sense either!

Yeah, I agree. If I'd have done that (which I would never do, drunk or sober) I'd give the car back in better condition than it was given to me. I'd get the damage repaired, get the planned work done, put it through a full valet, a full service & a give it a full tank of fuel then explain the situation when I gave it back & hope for forgiveness.

if i have to stick a toyota logo on my head and a yaris logo on my ***** and walk to it i`d still be there, EM you better bring me an Aagel layer cake :D .yea the gearbox was fixed last week and she is going in to be sprayed next week at work, in a week or so i`ll get new alloys. i had a chat to him last night an he did say sorry, so i told him to leave it at that and not show his face round again.

I'm sorry but you are being to kind on him, hes proved what sort of a friend he is. Why should you pay for his wrong doing. Even if he can't afford the lot, make him pay weekly installments, if he was a mate he would have already offered. He would not be one of my firends any more and once he has coughed up the lot I would never speak to him again. Like I said why should you bail him out?????

Well, people deal with things in different ways and it's difficult to say quite what any of us would have done if one of our friends had done that to our own car. Sure, we know what we think we'd do but the relaity of it can often be a different matter.

It seems like you are going to put it behind you and move on. Good luck to you, feller. Hope she's as good as new as soon as.

If you ever bring her over the Irish Sea, I'd look after her. I've got a Thunder Grey touch up pen! ;) Yeah I know yours is silver. It'll never show (much!). :P

Take care and best wishes.
