Excessive Engine Heat Or Is It

As some of you know ive only had my gen 5 celica now for only 4 weeks today i checked the oil again and its fine nice and clear but what i did notice i travelled for only 2 mile trip taking girlfriend to work 30mph all the way there and back.

I noticed incredible heat coming from the engine when i touched the dipstick it was very hot i had to use a rag so it didnt burn me i dont know if this is normal but never had this with any other car.

The temparature guage in the car stays at a steady half way once warm and never goes above that i think that is normal but the engine gets really really hot even after a 2 mile journey going 30mph.

The car has done 120,000 miles drinks a little bit of oil but no nore than other that have posted in the excessive oil use posts.

Might be just me being paranoid just need tto be rest assured by some one

or some one tell me a possible cause so i can get it fixed before to late.

Many thanks

Sounds ok. The Gen 5 is not renowned for having the best engine bay cooling. The dipstick is located very close to the exhaust manifold so it will get hot.

Provided the engine temp is ok and you`ve got oil and water in the engine all should be ok.

I`ve removed the undershields and bonnet seal on my GT4 to allow better airflow and let some of the heat escape but it still gats a bit tropical in there.

Chuck a GT4 bonnet on it. Vents already there so you wouldn`t have to go for dodgy aftermarket ones.

Removing the underbonnet sound proofing is a good way of reducing engine temperatures
